End Surprise Billing 2020

Nearly forty percent of patients who walk into an emergency room are later hit by surprise bills because the physician who treated them was out of their network. This crisis has only gotten worse through the pandemic as Americans are receiving desperately needed medical care for COVID-19! Those patients, and every patient, shouldn’t have to worry about a surprise bill when they’re trying to get lifesaving care.

Surprise Medical Bills

Dear:

I write to you today to express my concerns about surprise billing tactics by predatory Wall Street private equity firms that are hurting American families – particularly those being treated for COVID-19.

Today, forty percent of emergency room visits leave patients with a surprise bill that too often costs them thousands of dollars. This crisis has only gotten worse through the pandemic as Americans are receiving desperately needed medical care for COVID-19!

Even worse, this practice of gouging consumers is encouraged by the private equity firms that own medical groups. Put simply, the wealthiest in our nation are benefitting off the backs of America’s patients. We cannot allow Wall Street to exploit this system and continue to gouge consumers, particularly in this terrible time.

The only real solution to surprise billing is a commonsense benchmarking approach for all Americans, but most importantly for those receiving treatment for COVID-19. A benchmark solution will protect patients and end these outrageous surprise bills, stop the unscrupulous practices of Wall Street private equity firms, and preserve the free market without greater government intervention.

I urge you to find a solution to this crucial issue before the end of the year for hard-working Americans and protect patients like me from Wall Street and predatory physicians by taking any opportunity to stop the surprise billing crisis in America.
